1) Women’s Wear and Children’s Clothing (with which is incorporated the Tailoress and Dress Cutter), Vol IX, No. 384,9 May 1907, John Williamson Co. Ltd, London, 16 pages, small magazine format, paper covers. Early 1900s publication for professional seamstresses and cutters, content emphasizing women and children’s garments. Published every two weeks, each issue has a tissue pattern for a featured garment, plus pattern drafts for women and children’s clothing, fashion comments, trends of the fashion season, tailoring notes, etc. This issue includes an unused tissue pattern for a double-breasted short woman’s coat with a roll collar, bust size 36, from 1907 (see scan above). Also included is a draft for a little boy’s tunic and a page of illustrations for little girls’ costumes plus fashion trends and comments. 2) Weldon’s Portfolio of Fashions, #676, undated but circa 1935, 32 pages, magazine format, paper covers. This is a pattern supplement that was inserted into a Weldon’s monthly magazine. The Portfolio features free tissue patterns, directions for making the fashions, pattern layouts, etc. This issue has an unused tissue pattern plus instructions for an autumn coat, a fur-trimmed suit, and a tunic cardigan and skirt combo, all patterns in a bust size 36, hip 40. There are many illustrations and photos of other patterns available including coats, evening wear, tea gowns, day dresses, separates, lingerie, etc. Two pages show screen stars Kathleen Kelly and Gwyneth Lloyd wearing Weldon’s fashions. There is also a knitted pattern for a cardigan sweater. Entire magazine has crinkling and dampstaining on upper right page quadrant. $65 including shipping
3) Home Journal, Feb 2nd 1935, 22 pages, magazine format, paper covers. This is essentially a magazine for homemakers and has the usual short stories relating to domestic concerns, plus a Bestway tissue pattern for making 4 1930s blouses and a skirt (shown on cover). A text description is provided with directions and diagrams for making the fashions, pattern layouts, finishing instructions, etc. The magazine also includes another page with fashion patterns available via mail order. The magazine is in good used condition, covers have serious wear along spine, the tissue pattern has been partially used and is complete. $28 including media shipping;
4) Weldon’s Portfolio of Fashions #722, undated but circa 1939-40, 24 pages, magazine format, paper covers. This is a pattern supplement that was inserted into a Weldon’s monthly magazine. The Portfolio features free tissue patterns, directions for making the fashions, pattern layouts, etc. This issue has an unused tissue pattern for two late 1930s dresses – a swing skirt day frock and a shirred afternoon frock - patterns are size 36, hip 40. The Portfolio has illustrations and photos of other patterns available, including evening wear, day wear, lingerie, separates, and playsuits. There is also a crocheted pattern for a child’s dress. Some wear at page edges and a split at the lower cover spine, otherwise very good condition, pattern is unused. $33 including shipping;

The Portfolio features free tissue patterns, directions for making the fashions, pattern layouts, etc. This issue has an unused tissue pattern for a day frock, a velvet evening dress, and a lace evening dress, patterns are bust size 36, hip 40. The Portfolio includes illustrations of of other patterns available for day frocks, evening wear, blouses and skirts, and coats, plus a crocheted pattern for a bedjacket. Two multi-line single sheet patterns for 15 upscale women’s garments (suits with detailing, dresses with detachable capes, cocktails dresses in both slim and bouffant silhouettes, dresses with draping), 6 women’s carnival costumes (gypsy, dutch maiden, harem outfit, more), 1 man’s dutch carnival costume, 7 children’s winter outwear garments, and 7 children’s carnival costumes. All patterns are illustrated in the magazine and have reference numbers. The pattern sheet has a small line illustration of each fashion along with a picture of the pattern pieces. Multi-line single sheet pattern for at least 50 1937 upscale women’s and girls’ garments including dresses some with jackets or coats), plus a very special selection of women’s sporting outfits including an aviation or motoring jumpsuit, a bicycling culotte and shirt outfit, a fencing outfit with skirt, a golfing dress, 2 tennis dresses in different lengths, a two-piece sailor suit, an equestrian outfit with jodpurs, a sunsuit, much more.
