1) Quilts on Parade – 16 Favorites, Parade magazine, New York, 40 pages, magazine format, heavy paper covers, no date but appears to be late 1960s or early 1970s. A collection of 16 pieced and appliqued quilt patterns, plus directions for patchwork, appliqu, finishing, quilting, and quilting designs. There are also suggestions for cutting, laying out the design, borders, etc. Applique patterns include bluebells, balloon girl, Dresden plate, Martha Washington’s wreath, and baby’s pet nursery crib quilt. Pieced patterns include a star flower, pioneer patch, double Irish chain, variable star, maple leaf, sister’s choice, yankee pride, Job’s troubles, drunkard’s path, love ring, and nine-patch variation. $15 including shipping;
2) Ladies Art Company Catalog of Quilts and Quilting Designs, no catalog number, undated but appears to be late 1920s or perhaps very early 1930s, 24 pages including covers, paper covers. This is basically a catalog for ordering quilt patterns, quilting designs, and quilting supplies. The beauty of the catalog is that each quilt is shown in block arrangement, with borders, sashes, quilting and some quilting designs. You can also get a good idea of what is required to construct each quilt as materials, colors, block size, etc. are discussed for each example. Patterns illustrated include both pieced and appliqué quilts in the following patterns: primrose, wedding bells, tulip garden, morning glory cluster, peony, poppy, fuchsia, pond lily, rose of Sharon, jonquil, rose and bud wreath, pansy design, tulip, morning glory, flower basket, pomegranate, star and pansy, a dozen embroidered quilts, nursery and children’s patterns (little man in the moon, teddy bear, three little kittens, bunny crib, and several pages of quilting designs for all purposes. The back cover shows very vintage illustrations of Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam performing household chores and playing, sledding, at the seashore, etc, all designed for embroidery blocks. Complete instructions, patterns, and cutting guides for 16 pieced quilts that are easy to make and most are great scrap bag quilts. Patterns includes are baby’s block, constellation, exploding stars, magic squares, shadow box, pine tree, hatchet, cross patch, constellation, nine patch plaid, quilter’s surprise, tumbler, triangles, frame a print, wandering diamond, five patch, and the breeches. Many of these patterns are great scrap-bag quilts. Book has some cover wear but otherwise vg condition, patterns are uncut, $12 including shipping;
5) The Complete Guide To Quilting, Audrey Heard and Beverly Pryor, Creative Home Library, Meredith Corporation, 1974, 287 pages, hardcover with dj. An excellent instructional quiltmaking text with step-by-step directions for making all types of quilts, from the simplest of patchwork to the most elaborate Hawaiian quilting. Includes many pieced and appliquéd patterns and quilt diagrams, special sections on Amish quilts and Hawaiian quilting, creating original quilts, plus how to make other useful and decorative objects (clothing, pillows and pillowcases, upholstery, table linens, ornaments, etc). There are 200 total quilt patterns and hundreds of line drawings and color plates, showing both exceptional old quilts and newer original designs. Book is in very good condition, spine is tight, interior pages are clean and unmarked, dj has noticeable tears, $13 including media shipping;

A collection of appliqué quilt patterns designed to be made quickly using a sewing machine. The full-scale patterns include four-block Hawaiian, Hawaiian geometric, daisy-like motif, tree tops, butterfly fantasy, charming mushrooms, tulip bouquet, mariner’s choice, bright cats, ducks on parade, bird on a limb, insignia, snowflakes, and geometrics (on cover).
